Secrets St. Martin Resort and Spa: A Mixed Experience

Located on the beautiful French side of the island, Secrets St. Martin Resort and Spa is a luxurious getaway inspired by the island's vibrant surroundings. With its Caribbean-European-French roots, this resort promises an unforgettable experience for its guests. However, our recent visit revealed some inconsistencies that left us feeling somewhat disappointed.

Upon arrival, we were greeted with a single piece of bread on our plate, and had to request butter from the buffet table. The first dish was brought out to only three of our group of six within 15 minutes, while others waited for 45 minutes before receiving their meals. Unfortunately, one of the dishes served cold. It seemed like the waitress was new and lacking training or experience.

The restaurant Olio, where we dined on our first night, was closed due to staff leaving, which was inconvenient. On a rainy day, we had trouble finding an umbrella to reach our room from the parking area. The hotel's interior design, including the floors and rooms, seemed outdated and in need of renovation due to damage from humidity.

As Preferred Club guests, we expected more from the upgraded services. Unfortunately, the receptionist was unavailable for most of our stay, and we had to wait for another staff member to assist us.

Despite these issues, we are willing to give Secrets St. Martin Resort and Spa another chance during our week-long stay. Perhaps a fresh perspective will change our opinion about this resort. With its prime location just 35 minutes from the Princess Juliana International Airport and surrounded by vibrant outdoor markets, French, and Indian influences, there is potential for growth.

We hope that management takes note of these concerns and works to address them. For now, we can only rate our experience as 3.5 out of 5 stars.
